Batch of medical equipment donated by EU, WHO, German government reached Chisinau

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- Five lung ventilators, 300 oxygen concentrators and 600 pulse oximeters were donated today by the European Union, the German government and the World Health Organization. The device will reach hospitals in the country and Emergency Medicine Institute in Chisinau.
Attending the event were State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Tatiana Zatic and EU Ambassador to Chisinau Peter Michalko.
Emergency Medicine Institute director Mihail Ciocanu said that the assistance was very important, as comes in a critical time for the health system.
"Currently, the most requested technology for patients with COVID-19 is oxygen production, because the number of severe patients who need oxygen has increased sharply in the last two weeks," said Ciocanu.
Peter Michalko noted that the equipment worth about 14 million lei was purchased with the support of the WHO from the funds allocated by the European Union and with the support of the German government and is a gesture of support for Moldovan people.
