Moldovan government allocates 60 million lei to purchase anti-COVID vaccine

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The acting government, at a today’s meeting, ruled to allocate financial means meant for buying anti-COVID vaccine.
„Sixty million lei is allocated from the government’s reserve fund for the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) for buying the vaccine against COVID-19,’’ the cabinet decision reads.
The concerned draft suggests the earmarking of financial means for the partial purchasing of the needed amount of anti-COVID-19 doses.
"Under financial aspect, the expenses for the implementation of this decision will stand at 60,000 thousand lei for 338,600 doses (an estimated price of 10 dollars), which accounts for about 24.4 per cent of the needed amount of 1, 386, 115 doses. According to estimations made by the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), 4, 851, 403 doses are necessary for reaching the target of 70 per cent of the residents vaccinated. Taking into account that 1, 386, 115 doses (for 20 per cent of the population) will be got for free through COVAX, 2, 079, 173 doses (for 30 per cent of the residents) will be needed to be bought through COVAX at preferential price; the rest of the 1,386,115 doses (for 20 per cent of the population) need to be purchased by the country,’’ the document reads.
The control over the carrying out of this decision is entrusted with MSMPS and the decision enters into force on the date of its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
