Moldovan cabinet takes decision on assistance provided by Romania to farmers hit by drought

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The acting cabinet, at a today’s meeting, approved a decision on the humanitarian assistance provided by Romania, meant for the farmers hit by the drought.
„The government takes note of the Romanian government’s decision on the approval of taking out from state reserves and providing by Romania of a free of charge external humanitarian assistance for Moldova, meant to back the farmer hit by the drought, through which humanitarian assistance is provided to Moldova in form of energy product – diesel, amounting to 6,000 tons, designed to support the drought-hit farmers, worth 18,300 thousand Romanian lei,’’ the cabinet decision reads.
At the same time, the government ruled that the Material Reserves Agency subordinated to the Interior Ministry is nominated as authority in charge of the reception, depositing, preservation, record and distribution of the energy product – diesel, provided as humanitarian assistance.
The Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM), through the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA), will establish the eligible quantity of diesel oil for each farmer asking for humanitarian assistance, based on their applications submitted to AIPA, and will present the list of farmers (eligible applicants), distributed according to districts, to the inter-departmental commission for humanitarian assistance. The distribution of the humanitarian assistance will be made based on the decision by the interdepartmental commission for humanitarian assistance.
The Finance Ministry, jointly with the Interior Ministry, through the Customs Service and the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, will ensure the quick fulfillment of the formalities of receiving the humanitarian assistance across the border, as well as of the staff who carries and accompanies the goods.
The decision enters into force on the date of its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
