Moldovan health ministry issues reaction to temporary suspension of use AstraZeneca vaccine in more EU countries

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The health sector authorities today came up with a reaction as to the temporary suspension of the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in Austria and Denmark and informed that the Moldovan specialists in vaccination were thoroughly analyzing each post-immunization adverse effect.
According to data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), specialists continuously watch the official reports and the results of the monitoring carried out by the institutions in charge of the control and monitoring of the safety and efficiency of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine. Thus, according to findings of the committee for assessing the risks in terms of Pharmacovigilance of the European Medicines Agency, the information available so far shows that the number of thromboembolic events in the people vaccinated with AstraZeneca is not larger than the one noticed among the general population.
“Specialists in immunization and the authorities in charge of the management of the campaign of vaccination against Covid-19 in Moldova keep an eye on the carrying out of the vaccination campaign and thoroughly analyze each post-immunization adverse effect,’’ a press release of the institution reads.
Statistics data shows that 9,341 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered in Moldova till present and 303 light adverse effects were registered, which pose no danger for the life and health of the vaccinated persons.
The AstraZeneca vaccine is listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization and is used in the United Kingdom, European Union, Australia. Millions of vaccine doses have been administered so far, with the vaccine’s efficiency and safety for the general population proved.
