Moldovan fine artist celebrates 75th birth anniversary

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/- Fine artist Gheorghe Oprea, Master in art celebrates his 75th birth anniversary today.
He was born on 13 March 1946, in Tarnova village, Edinet district. He studied at the University of Popular Art in Moscow (1965-1968), the College of Fine Arts A. Plămădeală (1970-1974) and the State Pedagogical University Ion Creangă in Chisinau, Faculty of Graphics and Painting (1984-1989). He had as guides Mihai Grecu, Vasile Toma, Olga Orlova, Stanislav Babiuc, Ada Zevin and Athanasie Oprea.
Since 1974, he has been working as a scientific collaborator at the Central Exhibition Hall of the National Museum of Art of Moldova. From 1984 to 2015, he was head of the Exhibition sector at the same institution. In this capacity, Gheorghe Oprea organized several exhibitions of local painters in the country and abroad.
Over the years, he has exhibited his work in several countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, the Russian Federation, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, Hungary and other countries. Currently, Gheorghe Oprea has a permanent gallery at the National Library of the Republic of Moldova. The 36 works, of which 20 are portraits of Romanian writers and 16 compositions, arrived in the collection of the institution as a donation.
His works can be found in public and private collections in the Republic of Moldova, Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Israel, Romania, Spain, USA, Ukraine, etc. Since 1989, Gheorghe Oprea is a member of the Union of Fine Artists of Moldova and since 2000 - a member of the International Association of Fine Artists (UNESCO). In 1991, he was awarded the honorary title of Master of Arts.
