Presidency, Supreme Security Council recommend set up state of emergency for two weeks

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/- The position of the presidency is that the state cannot stand idly by in the sand as the situation becomes more serious, and the actions we recommend to the government and parliament are found in today's decision of the Supreme Security Council (CSS), which recommends establishing a state of emergency for two weeks. The statement was made this evening by President Maia Sandu at a briefing after the Council meeting.
The head of state noted that the position of the Presidency and the majority of the CSS consists in recommending the establishment of a state of emergency for a period of two weeks. It is also recommended that the government draw up a list of restrictions to be imposed within three days, the activities and categories of citizens that will be subject to these restrictions and the compensation they will receive from the state, submitting these proposals to parliament.
"It is recommended, the emergency appointment of state secretaries within the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, as well as the appointment of the management of the National Agency for Public Health. At the same time, the composition of the Extraordinary National Commission of Public Health should be modified, including epidemiologists, virologists and doctors, with the activation of the Single Command Center within the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, composed of representatives of institutions with crisis management, "said Maia Sand.
In the same context, the president referred to speeding up vaccination campaign and the transition to the second stage, with the creation of an online programming register of citizens, as well as the development of a mechanism for home delivery of medicines. "We recommend to organize diagnostic points for patients treated at home for the correct assessment of cases in dynamics, as well as expanding testing capacity," she said.
She also approached the economic aspect of the pandemic crisis. "We recommend compensating the losses of employees, patent holders, other professions, caused by the state of emergency by at least one thousand lei per week, simplifying the procedures for registering the status of unemployed and applying for unemployment benefits within three days", Sandu said.
"Every day we lose loved ones, grandparents, artists, doctors, people who bring value to this country. We are in this crisis together and we depend on each other, we are going through a very difficult period, but I am sure that we have the capacity and strength to get out of the crisis," Maia Sandu said.
