Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu signed today a decree by which the day of 15 March 2021, when the funeral of writer Nicolae Dabija will take place is declared a day of national mourning throughout the country, the presidentiaal press service has reported.
The national mourning is set up "as a sign of deep sadness, caused by passing into eternity of the famous writer, leading supporter of the national renaissance movement, signatory of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova, academic and literary historian", the decree reads.
According to the presidential decree, tomorrow the state flags will be lowered in the whole country, and at 12.00 in the poet's memory there will be a moment of silence. The funeral ceremony will be broadcast live by the public company Teleradio-Moldova.
At the same time, public authorities, businesses and organizations are advised to refrain from conducting mass entertainment on 15 March 2021, and to the editorial offices of newspapers, radio and television stations - to take into account the specifics of this day when editing publications and programs.
