100th birth anniversary of writer, publicist Nicolae Lupan

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/- Today we mark the 100th birth anniversary of writer and publicist Nicolae Lupan, editor, producer of radio shows, journalist, well-known anti-communist and anti-Soviet fighter.

He was born on 16 March 1921, in Cepeleuți village, Hotin county, today Ocnița district. In 1961, he graduated from the University of Chernivtsi.

He wrote articles, reports, sketches, stories on radio, television and in almost all newspapers and magazines in Chisinau (1958-1970).

For 12 years, he broadcasts weekly shows on Radio Free Europe, for almost 20 years he has been collaborating with the newspaper Cuvântul românesc from Hamilton, Canada, with the page "Între Prut şi Nistru".

Nicolae Lupan contributed to the change of the opinion of many of his compatriots towards the realities that persisted in this space in the middle of the ’80s and’ 90s of the 20th century.

He participated in many conferences on topics related to the fate of Bessarabia.

Nicolae Lupan passed away on 25 January 2017 in Paris.
