Four patrol inspectors from southern Moldova arrived at CNA detention center for corruption

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/- Four patrol inspectors arrived in the isolator of the National Anticorruption Center /CNA /, after being documented for several months by the officers of the territorial department South, being suspected of having claimed bribes from drivers who violated traffic rules.

According to CNA data, the four policemen are being investigated for passive corruption, in five criminal cases, and last night they were all detained for 72 hours.

Corruption cases took place in the service car of the patrol inspectors, on several routes in Comrat, when drunk drivers, without documents or who violated other traffic rules, were ordered to pay bribes in order not to be sanctioned.

One month ago, seven other Cahul police officers were detained on suspicion of the same corruption scheme and are currently being investigated for abuse and passive corruption. If found guilty, law enforcement faces up to 10 years in prison, a criminal fine and deprivation of the right to hold public office.
