Electronic toll system in municipal public transport launched in Chisinau

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/- Passengers of three trolleybus routes and two bus routes in the municipal public transport in Chisinau will be able to pay for the trip by bank card.
The city hall today launched the pilot project on the electronic charging system in municipal public transport in partnership with MasterCard.
According to Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban, the project is the result of talks initiated with Mastercard and a commercial bank in the Republic of Moldova. "Payment without cash will be possible in 110 municipal public transport units on three trolleybus routes and two bus routes. It is about trolleybus No10, 22 and 30 and bus No2 and 5 ”, said Ceban.
Bank institution representatives said that the payment for the cost of the trip remains the same and can be made with a bank card or by phone through the integrated system installed in the transport units.
Regia Transport Electric Chisinau and Urban Bus Park companies have concluded contracts with electronic toll service providers for the pilot project, which will last six months. Following a feasibility study, it will be decided whether or not it will be implemented permanently.
