Moldsilva company to boost rare plant protection

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/- The Moldsilva Agency announced the relaunch of measures to protect plant species with a special protection regime once spring arrived, when the forest fund is more vulnerable to traders and those who violate the provisions of the relevant legislation.

According to an order signed by Moldsilva director Dumitru Cojocaru, heads of subordinate forestry entities and forestry personnel are responsible for complying with the legislation in force establishing species of flora of national and international importance, which require priority protection, prohibited for collection.

The same order also sets the organization by foresters, in agreement with the police, the representatives of the territorial subdivisions of the inspectorate for environmental protection, measures to prevent, stop and ban the collection and marketing of protected plants, applying the provisions of national legislation.

In the same context, the Moldsilva director said that despite the traditional restrictions and measures taken by the employees of each forestry entity, some citizens neglect the legal framework and continue the illegalities of destroying forest flora and marketing flowers and plants. "The mobile teams for guarding the forest fund will make the necessary efforts to solve this issue," said Cojocaru.

The Moldsilva Agency urges people to cooperate in cases where persons or economic agents who do not comply with the measures for the conservation and protection of plant objects are known. About such abuses in the forest fund, the institution asks to be informed through the specialized anti-corruption Line at phone number 022 211-311.

More than 150 floristic species are registered in the National Forest Fund, included in a special protection regime.
