Candidate put forward by Moldovan Socialists, For Moldova Platform informs on withdrawal of her candidacy for PM office

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate put forward by the Party of Socialists and the Platform For Moldova for the office of prime minister, Mariana Durlesteanu, today informed on a social network that she had ruled to withdraw her candidacy. Durlesteanu made the announcement just during the consultations with the parliamentary factions, started by President Maia Sandu.  

„I reiterate that I am not anybody’s puppet, just as some of the political establishment try to manipulate. I accepted this challenge, as I am not indifferent towards the serious situation in the country. I accepted on condition to create a government team with correct and professional people, to transparently manage the public institutions and promote reforms in all sectors. The main goal of this decision was to regain the citizens’ trust in the democracy through improving the administration of the governmental act in the European spirit, ensuring an independent justice and continuing the fight against corruption.  Regretfully, what I have seen on this period was that most politicians, no matter whether they are left or right, make ‘clownery’’ on TV and compete with political statements. Dear citizens, friends, maybe there is room for cynicism in politics, but not in such a way, not now, when people’s lives are in danger. Therefore, I come with an announcement: I have ruled to withdraw my candidacy from the office of Moldova’s prime minister,’’ Durlesteanu wrote.

In the posting, Mariana Durlesteanu specified that she withdrew, but did not leave the public life. ‘’The bitter experience from the last months prompted me to get involved in the country’s life even more in the long run. I want to believe and strongly hope that a new political establishment, with a true moral fibre will appear at the next parliamentary elections and everything will allow transforming the country for the better, bringing more Europe at home,’’ Durlesteanu said.
