Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - Experts of the World Health Organization (WHO) have trained over 20 specialists and heads of public laboratories from Moldova in the quick testing and identification of the antigen of SARS-CoV-2, in order to extend Moldova’s capacities of testing and improve the access to diagnosing the COVID-19.

According to data by the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), the quick testing will allow getting results in a shorter period, will enhance the capacity of managing the cases and will allow quick public health measures and of monitoring the contacts.

The quoted source said that, for the beginning, these types of tests would be used in emergency reception units and at the level of the primary medical assistance. The quick tests to the antigen of SARS-CoV-2 will be used only if the person has COVID-19 symptoms or in patients who were in contact with a confirmed person. Or, the quick test cannot be applied to asymptomatic persons.

Also, the application of quick tests is recommended for testing the persons from a closed-type or semi-closed-type institution, where a potential hotbed of disease can exist.

The quick testing must be applied in the first 5-7 days after the beginning of the symptoms. Following this period, the result of the quick testing should be ignored, as it might show incorrect results. If the person has COVID-19 symptoms and the quick test is negative, it is necessary that the sample collected be tested through the PCR way to confirm the diagnosis.
