Moldovan acting PM has phone conversation with Italian foreign affairs minister

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi di Maio. The two officials tackled a wide spectrum of subjects on the Moldovan-Italian relations and prospects for their development, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.       

The two dignitaries confirmed both states’ willingness to strengthen the political dialogue, including through the carrying out of an agenda of high-level mutual visits. The sides also expressed interest to extend and deepen the bilateral cooperation in such sectors as the economic, commercial, energy environment and cultural ones.    

The officials paid special attention to the management of the pandemic situation in both states. The acting PM highlighted the current challenges in the management of the sanitary crisis and conveyed thanks to the Italian authorities for the assistance provided to the national health system both at the bilateral level and on behalf of the European Union.  

Aureliu Ciocoi and Luigi di Maio reviewed subjects on the present stage of the Moldova-European Union dialogue, process of implementation of the provisions of Association Agreement, as well as the Moldovan authorities’ agenda of reforms. The diplomats referred also to the cooperation within the Eastern Partnership and to the need to identify ambitious goals, which are to contribute to the eastern partners’ getting closer to EU, through the turning to good account of the current opportunities.
