Moldovan parliament makes amendments to law on social assistance

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today approved amendments to the law on social assistance, establishing a new way of indexation of the minimally guaranteed state monthly income.

Under the draft, the minimally guaranteed state monthly income will be indexed twice per year: on 1 April, the coefficient of indexation will be the average of the annual increase in the consumer prices index for the last three years and on 1 October – the inflation rate registered in the first half of the current year.

The expenses necessary for the indexation on 1 April 2021 by 3.89 per cent (average inflation for the last three years) are estimated at about 4.2 million lei.

The implementation of the provisions will be made within the limit of the financial means planned for the Social Assistance Programme: social assistance – 639.5 million lei, assistance for the cold period of the year – 480 million lei.
