More than 18,000 employees in medical system vaccinated against COVID

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/- So far 18,593 employees in the medical system have been vaccinated against COVID, with 326 adverse reactions.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection announced that on 18 March the European Medicines Agency (EMA) confirmed that vaccination with AstraZeneca is safe and effective.

"The EMA safety committee states that the benefits of AstraZeneca vaccine in combating COVID-19 continue to outweigh the risk of side effects; vaccination is not associated with an increased risk of general blood clots; there is no evidence of a problem with specific batches of vaccine or certain production sites and the vaccine may be associated with very rare cases of blood clotting disorders. These cases have been reported in 25 people out of 20 million vaccinated with AstraZeneca in Europe. A causal link between these cases and vaccination is not proven, but it is possible ", it is shown in the MSMPS communiqué.

By 18 March over 400 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered worldwide. To date, no deaths have been shown to be caused by COVID-19 vaccines.

Given the alarming increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 infection, MSMPS reiterates that it is very important to continue the vaccination campaign to save people's lives and stop the pandemic.
