Moldsilva agency starts campaign dedicated to International Forest Day

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/- Moldsilva agency started today a campaign to green and regenerate the national forest area, dedicated to International Forest Day marked every year on 21 March. The activities proposed by the forestry authority will last until 26 March and will have as finality the increase of the forested areas in the Republic of Moldova.
According to the institution, for 19 March actions are planned for planting forest crops in the managed forest fund, as well as on the lands of local public authorities with a total area of 93.4 hectares.
According to Moldsilva Agency director Dumitru Cojocaru, the national tree planting campaign, entitled We plant forests, save Moldova, is credited as an eco-civic action that would increase the country's forestry from 11% to 15%.
Dumitru Cojocaru assured that through the subordinated forest entities, the necessary conditions will be created for all public authorities, as well as individuals, who want to get involved and participate in the planting campaign.
The United Nations (UN) General Assembly has set up International Forest Day to mark and raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests and trees outside forests. The motto of the International Day of Forests - 2021, launched by the UN General Assembly is Restoration of forests: a path to health and well-being.
