Special commission to select candidates for Ombudsman position

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/- A special committee will be set up in parliament to select candidates for Ombudsman. A decision to this effect was approved today by parliament.

The Commission shall be made up of members of the Commission on Human Rights and Interethnic Relations and legal committee on rules and immunities.

Thus, Doina Gherman, Igor Vremea, Oazu Nantoi, Ion Leucă and Nicolae Pascaru will be members of the Commission on Human Rights and Interethnic Relations.

Vasile Bolea, Eugeniu Nichiforciuc, Denis Ulanov, Dinu Plîngău, Alexandr Suhodolski - of the legal committee on rules and immunities.

On 4 February 2021, the parliament adopted the Decision on termination of office of the Ombudsman before deadline and declared vacant this position. The interim position of Ombudsman is currently exercised by Maia Bănărescu, ombudswoman for children's rights.
