Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) held a meeting in limited format in Bender today. The emergency meeting was demanded by the JCC co-head on behalf of Russia, according to the JCC Regulation, in order to decide on undelayable organizational issues, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Thus, the new head of the general staff of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, colonel A. Sevriukov and the new commander of the North and Centre sector of the Security Zone, colonel D. Grishin, both on behalf of Russia, were confirmed to office. Also, the commission confirmed to office two military observers on behalf of Moldova and Russia each. The servicemen who have earlier held these positions ceased their mandate, in connection with the finishing of the contract’s term.
JCC held no ordinary meetings in the last two weeks, for reasons of Covid-19 hotbeds, with Moldova’s delegation informing, in working regime, the other components of the Joint Control Commission.
The JCC ordinary meetings are constantly blocked by the Transnistrian side, which turns down the inclusion on the agenda of the subjects concerning the kidnapping of people, which took place in the Security Zone. This situation emerged in the Security Zone following the abusive introduction of the so-called ‘’border guards’’ in May 2019 and other up-to-date issues.
