Moldovan parliament votes for lifting immunity of MP Denis Ulanov

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - An MP of the parliamentary faction of the Short Party, Denis Ulanov, remained without parliamentary immunity today. Seventy lawmakers voted for the approval of the demand by the Prosecutor General on Ulanov’s stripping off immunity for his prosecution and arresting.
According to Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, the MP is suspected of causing damage to the state in particularly large amount and complicity to the offence of money laundering. Ulanov is suspected of having provided legal services to a company which carried out the trading of 38 per cent from Victoriabank and would have exceeded his contractual powers.
Denis Ulanov denied the charge, noting that there was no enough evidence proving that he was involved in certain offences. Ulanov specified that he had done nothing but fulfilled his duties of lawyer.
Also today, the parliament ruled to lift the immunity of lawmaker of the Shor Party, Petru Jardan. Subsequently, Jardan was detained.
