21,846 people vaccinated against Covid in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/- So far, 21,846 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered in the Republic of Moldova and 326 mild effects have been reported. The interval of administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the Republic of Moldova is eight weeks.

According to data by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, so far only AstraZeneca vaccines have been administered in Moldova.

The US phase 3 study of AstraZeneca vaccine showed that the serum has a 79% efficacy against symptomatic COVID-19 infection and 100% efficacy against severe forms of COVID-19 and hospitalization. The vaccine showed similar efficacy in all age groups, and in participants over 65 years of age, the vaccine was 80% effective.

Today, in the Republic of Moldova, the immunization process started with the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, donated through the COVAX platform. The 12,282 doses of vaccine will be distributed to the territorial Public Health Centers, including in the eastern territories.

Medical workers will be vaccinated with the doses against COVID-19, as well as other categories of people included in the first stage of vaccination.
