National Ecological Fund to finance construction of facilities at Chisinau Wastewater Treatment Plant

Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/- The National Ecological Fund will finance at a rate of 60 percent the construction of some installations at the Chisinau Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Chisinau city hall informs that the project Construction of final sludge processing facilities by pyrolysis at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Chisinau will be co-financed by the National Ecological Fund.

Pyrolysis technology consists in reducing the amount of sludge.

At the same time, according to the specialists, as well as the results of the analyzes, the only long-term solution, which can solve the problem of bad smell in the capital is the installation of pyrolysis installations at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Thus, the National Ecological Fund will contribute 60% of the amount needed to carry out the project.

Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said that currently efforts are being made to identify other financial sources necessary for the implementation of the project, which in fact is an important step that will allow the construction of a closed ecological cycle of sludge processing that accumulates daily at the treatment plant.

He said that the issue was supported by all the parliamentary factions.

After the completion of the modernization and reception process of the new Wastewater Treatment Plant, the sewerage services will be extended to Straseni and Ialoveni districts.
