Several ambassadors to Moldova presented credentials

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/- State Secretary Daniela Cujbă met today with ambassadors of Croatia, Australia, Norway and Serbia. The event provided an opportunity to review the current situation of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the countries and to exchange views on current regional and international issues, the MAEIE press service has reported.

During the meeting with Ambassador of Croatia Marija Kapitanović, the desire of the parties to deepen sectoral cooperation and boost economic cooperation was reconfirmed, highlighting the positive dynamics of bilateral trade.

Cujba thanked the Croatian side for the support of Zagreb authorities in the European integration efforts of Moldova and addressed use of the platform of the Moldovan-Croatian Intergovernmental Commission for European Integration by organizing consultations on European integration this year.

On the sidelines of the meeting with Ambassador of the Union of Australia Bruce Kevin Jeffrey Edwards, the mutual interest of strengthening the bilateral and multilateral political dialogue was highlighted, as well as the fight against climate change and strengthening efforts to counter the covid-19 pandemic, being priority directions in this regard.

Major importance was given to the prospects of developing trade and economic cooperation, organizing inter-ministerial political consultations, exchanging visits of high-ranking officials, carrying out business missions, intensifying cultural and humanitarian contacts, expanding the legal framework in areas of interest. 

The Australian Ambassador presented the priorities of his mandate, saying he is committed to actively contribute to enhancing dialogue and use of opportunities to develop sectoral cooperation.

Discussions with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Siri Barry focused on examining the prospects for boosting political-diplomatic dialogue and sectoral cooperation, including through the development assistance provided by Norway to our country in priority sectors, such as institutional capacity building, reform of the justice and home affairs sector, energy efficiency, employment of people with special needs.

Highlighting the good cooperation between the two countries in international organizations, Daniela Cujbă expressed gratitude for Norway's decision to make a voluntary financial contribution to the new Council of Europe Action Plan for Moldova for 2021-2024. In this regard, the previous valuable contribution to the implementation of the Action Plan for 2017-2020 was also appreciated, with Norway being the second largest funder to this Plan.

The dialogue with new Ambassador of Serbia Stefan Tomašević focused on good cooperation in the regional initiatives and main goals and activities for achieving the common agenda.

The Serbian diplomat expressed firm commitment to contribute to the deepening of bilateral relations, noting that the affiliation of the Republic of Moldova and Serbia to the Southeast European space and the objectives of both countries to achieve their European integration aspirations provide a favorable context for further development of mutually beneficial dynamic bilateral cooperation. A distinct topic of discussion was Serbia's positive experience in combating the pandemic and providing the population with vaccines.

Cujbă congratulated the new heads of the diplomatic mission and wished them success in serving as ambassador, assuring them of full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration to further strengthen relations with the represented states.
