Moldovan university professor celebrates 75th birthday

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/- Epidemiologist Viorel Prisăcaru, PhD in medicine, university professor, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, winner of several awards in science turned 75 today.
He was born on 26 March 1946, in Gașpar, Edineț district. He studied at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Nicolae Testemitanu (1963-1969).
In 1990-2019 he was president of the Scientific Society of Epidemiologists and Microbiologists of the Republic of Moldova, in 1990-2012 - main epidemiologist of the Republic of Moldova and since 2012 he is a member of the specialized commission Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health.
In 1990-2017 he is a member of the Extraordinary Anti-Epidemic Commission attached to the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Moldova (since 2009 - Extraordinary National Commission for Public Health).
Scientist Viorel Prisăcaru focused his research on optimizing epidemiological surveillance in current infectious diseases for the Republic of Moldova, as well as on the development, research and implementation of antibacterial and antifungal preparations from local raw materials.
He has published over 450 scientific and didactic papers, including 10 monographs and 12 textbooks. He holds 35 patents and 108 certificates of innovator.
He participated in over 30 national and international exhibitions of inventions and innovations and technology transfer, in which 81 medals were obtained, including 53 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze.
University professor Viorel Prisăcaru was awarded the Civic Merit Medal (1995), the Dimitrie Cantemir Medal of the ASM (2006), the Labor Glory Order (2010), the Prize of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova for outstanding achievements in science 1996), Diploma of Excellence and Grand Prize at the International Salon of Research, Innovation and Invention (Cluj-Napoca, Romania), for exceptional contributions in the development and promotion of invention (2009), with the Annual Award of the Government of the Republic of Moldova for the most gifted inventor (2009) and other national and international awards.
