Moldovan MPs operate technical amendments to state budget

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/- Technical amendments to the budget, necessary to apply the new way of indexing the pensions on 1 April were voted today by parliament in two readings.
The amendments aim at adjusting the sources of financing the budget deficit to the modified deficit, reflecting the additional allocations from the state budget on expenditure sub-programs and according to the functional classification, adjusting the ceiling of the internal state debt.
On 12 March the parliament adopted the Law on amending some normative acts establishing a new mechanism for indexing pensions. According to the changes, in April, the pension indexation coefficient will be the average annual increase in the consumer price index for the last three years, and in October - the inflation rate recorded in the first half of this year.
The indexation mechanism will be applied for about 731364 beneficiaries, including 662475 pension beneficiaries and 68889 beneficiaries of state social allowances. The expenses for the indexation of pensions and social benefits on 1 April and 1 October amount to 702612.0 thousand lei, of which 94077.3 thousand lei were provided in the Law on the state social insurance budget for 2021, and the additional financial means in amount of 608534.7 thousand lei will be transfers from the state budget to the state social insurance budget. Their sources of coverage will be supplemented from the budget deficit with coverage from the internal debt.
