Law on subsidy principles in agriculture, rural development amended

Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/- Parliament approved today in the second reading the draft amendment to the law on subsidy principles in the development of agriculture and rural environment.

According to the draft, the government will be empowered to approve a procedure for the payment of subsidies to applicants whose activities correspond to the measure to stimulate lending to agricultural producers by commercial banks and non-bank financial intervention institutions.

Also, for 2020-2021, the obligation to present certificates attesting to the absence of debts to taxes and fees to the national public budget will be eliminated, in order to be able to benefit from subsidies.

According to the authors, the need to set draft comes in the context of the crisis in agriculture created in 2020, caused by natural disasters in the agricultural sector, including excessive drought from autumn 2019 - spring 2020 and until now.
