Chisinau, 26 March /MOLDPRES/ - The people from all over the world pay homage to the planet annually on each last Saturday of March, by participating in the greatest environment action – Earth Hour.
The Environment Agency informs that, in the context of the pandemic crisis and the emergency state in the public health sector, established in Moldova because of the epidemiological situation in the country, as well as not to allow the appearance of the risk of infection with COVID-19, no public events dedicated to the Earth Hour environment action will be organized this year too.
The institution urges and encourages citizens on 27 March to switch off the light and turn off the non-essential electric household appliances during one hour, in any time of next Saturday, voluntarily, as a token of care for the environment. Also, people are urged to save the electric energy during the entire year and to personally contribute, through different actions, to diminishing and attenuating the impact of the climate changes.
Starting from 2007, at an initiative by the World Wide Fund for Nature, the Earth Hour is annually marked on the last Saturday of March in the time interval 20:30-21:30.
