Moldovan university professor celebrates 70th anniversary

Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/- Historian Ion Șișcanu, PhD in history, university professor, holder of the Order of Honor turned 70 today.
He was assistant in charge of Moldovan history seminars at the Polytechnic Institute of Chisinau (1976-1978), associate professor, senior lecturer at TUM (1982-1988), senior scientific researcher at the Institute of Social-Political Research of the ASM (1988-1990), associate professor at the Pedagogical Institute of Chisinau Ion Creanga (1990-1991), senior scientific researcher, head of department, deputy director at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (1991-1999), university professor at the University B . P. Hașdeu from Cahul (1999-2006), rector of the same institution (2006-2013), deputy director of the Institute of History of the ASM (2013-2015), deputy minister of Education (2015-2016).
Since 2016 he is the head of the Contemporary History Section of the Institute of History of the ASM.
He signed monographs, studies and articles in collections and specialized periodicals, including: The Rapture of Bessarabia. 1940 (1993), The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its Consequences for Bessarabia (1991), The Soviet Union - Romania: Negotiations in the Joint Commission, 1940 (1995), The History of Bessarabia from Ancient Times to 2003 (In collaboration, 2003), A history of Bessarabia (2015) and others. He has published articles in several history journals.
In 2010, he was awarded the Order of Honor.
