Moldovan writer passed away today

Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/- Prose writer, publicist, essayist and translator Ioan Mânăscurtă, holder of the Labor Glory Order, Master of Literature, winner of several literary prizes, passed away today, infected by COVID-19, at the age of 67. On 28 April he would turn 68 years.
The tragic news was announced by counselor of the Writers' Union of Moldova Titus Stirbu.
Ioan Mânăscurtă was born on 28 April 1953 in the village of Popeștii de Sus, Drochia district. In 1970-1975, he studied at the State University of Moldova, Faculty of Philology, journalism.
His prose was translated into Russian and Ukrainian, and the teen novel Artefact - in French, Czech, Japanese, Bulgarian, etc.
He also edited, together with painter Sergiu Puică the bilingual illustrated dictionaries.
