Event commemorating 27 March 1918 held in Moldovan parliament

Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/- At the initiative of unaffiliated MP Octavian Țîcu, a solemn meeting was held at parliament today. The event, entitled -103 years of the unification of Bessarabia with Romania, was organized with the support and participation of MPs of ACUM DA PLATFORM, PAS, ACUM Bloc and PDM, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Ion Tighineanu, the head of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, and Ioan Aurel Pop, the head of the Romanian Academy, came from a distance with a word of greeting.
Attending the event was Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Daniel Ionita. He delivered a speech to participants.
Present at the event, several lawmakers sent greetings on marking 27 March 1918, including MPs Maria Ciobanu and Iurie Reniță - ACUM DA PLATFORM, MPs Virgiliu Pâslariuc and Petru Frunze - of PAS, ACUM bloc, MPs Monica Babuc and Ion Leucă - of PDM faction.
The event was also attended by scientists, deputies in the first Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, mayors of some localities and politicians from Romania, who also addressed messages on the events of 27 March 1918.
At the end of the ceremony, Octavian Țîcu read the Declaration of the solemn meeting of 27 March 1918.
