People with COVID-19 symptoms can make quick test for SARS-CoV-2 antigen free of charge in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ -People with COVID-19 symptoms or who contacted with a person confirmed with coronavirus can make the quick test for the SARS-CoV-2 antigen for free, by appealing to the family physician.

According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), 200,000 quick diagnosis tests for detecting Ag SARSCoV-2 have been already distributed to the public medical and sanitary institutions of the national level, in order to strengthen the capacities of diagnosis and detecting the virus among the residents. The tests were purchased within the World Bank’s project, Emergency Response to COVID-19 in Moldova.

The quick testing must be applied in the first days after the beginning of symptoms. Following this period, the result of the quick test must be ignored, as it might show incorrect results. If the person has symptoms of COVID-19 and the quick test is negative, the PCR test is necessary to be made for confirming the diagnosis.

The ministry also said that another 100,000 quick tests are to be delivered to Moldova on the next period.
