Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 100,620 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine have been allocated to Moldova through the COVAX platform. The vaccines are to be brought to Moldova in late next June. President Maia Sandu made statements to this effect today.
“I am glad that representatives of the Pfizer Company so quickly have answered our request to get access to this vaccine. We are grateful to the countries which contribute to the COVAX platform and help us speed up the process of the citizens’ vaccination,’’ Sandu said.
The head of state noted that the vaccine must be administered, first of all, to the medical staff and the ones from the risk groups, such as the teachers, elderly people and persons with comorbidities. ‘’It is inadmissible for some people to be immunized out of turn and thus, to leave the physicians and other categories subjected to risk in great danger. We will insist on a rigorous control on behalf of the competent institutions as to the correctness of the vaccine’s administration, so that those who mostly need the vaccine, get it as soon as possible,’’ Sandu added.
