Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - The praetor of Chisinau’s Ciocana district is prosecuted under the Criminal Law by the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) for corruption deeds, along with two policemen from the Ciocana Police Inspectorate (IP). It is about the deputy head of IP Ciocana and a superior investigation officer, both suspected of corruption deeds, committed in complicity with the praetor.
According to the quoted source, within the prosecution, decision-makers found out that, on the period April 2020 till present, the praetor of the Ciocana district, being in a preliminary agreement with the deputy head of the Ciocana Police Inspectorate, through a superior investigation officer, would have claimed and received sums varying from 5,000 and 10,000 lei from economic agents owning seasonal terraces on the public and private sector from Chisinau and street ambulant trade. Information collected by inquirers shows that the money would have been collected as protection taxes and to facilitate the approval and release of the acts allowing the carrying out of the work of economic agents.
The suspects have been documented during more months. The discussions between accomplices took place just at the headquarters of the Ciocana praetor’s office and the recordings clearly show that they organized a scheme of extorting money from those who carry out entrepreneurial activity in the area within their competence.
The praetor, along with the deputy head of IP Ciocana were carried to CNA for hearings and run the risk of up to 15 years of imprisonment, fine and the deprivation of the rights to hold public officers for a certain period.
