Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/- Presidential decree on use of the National Army during the state of emergency in public health has been published in the Official Journal.

The document reads “given the evolution and trends of the epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19 infection in Moldova, and the need to set restrictive measures, based on Article 87(1) and Article 88 (j) of the Constitution of Art.33 (2) of the Law on National Defense, of the Decision of the Supreme Security Council No01-02-03 of 13 March 2021, of Decision No51/2021 of the National Commission on Public Health and the note of the head of the commission, the Moldovan President decrees:

the National Army will provide necessary support to state authorities, with staff and logistics, in ensuring public order and compliance by private people and legal entities of measures to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 infection, patrol missions, special traffic regime within the country, security and protection of certain objectives / areas and critical infrastructure, staff transport, materials and equipment for the performance of specific missions, epidemiological triage, medical care and other missions set by the National Public Health Commission”.

The decree also sees "the National Army will intervene in accordance with the decisions of the National Public Health Commission".

This decree was signed on 26 March and entered into force.
