Moldovan president meets US envoy

Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu had a meeting today with US Ambassador to Chisinau Dereck J. Hogan. It focused on the latest political developments and health situation in the country, the presidential press service has reported.
"In this context, I would like to thank the United States for significant contribution to the COVAX platform, thanks to which our country can benefit from free vaccine and can protect people at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic," said the head of state.
The two officials approached US assistance priorities in Moldova in various sectors. The head of state pointed out the importance of adapting these priorities to pandemic realities, so that they reflect the country's immediate problems.
"It is about mitigating the social and economic consequences of the crisis. This includes supporting small entrepreneurs or farmers, creating and improving services at the community level, developing opportunities for young people and women, as well as fighting corruption, supporting democracy and independent media, "said Maia Sandu.
