FAO program to strengthen food security, regional cooperation launched in Chisinau

Chisinau, 2 April /MOLDPRES/- Partnership program United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) -Turkey -Improving national food safety systems and regional cooperation was launched in Chisinau this week.
The three-year project aims to strengthen official controls on food safety and risk communication in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Turkey, providing a favorable environment for public and private sectors to address priority food security risks.
Attending the event participants were familiar with the program goals and activities, implementation team and tools due to be used in implementation.
At national and regional level, the project aims to support beneficiary countries in strengthening work processes for official food safety controls, in line with the risk analysis framework, to improve practical knowledge and skills in food safety risk communication, as well as food security emergency response capabilities.
Also, once the project is implemented, the participating countries rely on expanding the capacities of national food safety authorities to implement risk-based inspection and supporting the development of the capacity of food business operators in food safety management.
In recent years, FAO has provided support to our country by implementing several projects at the national and regional levels, focusing on food safety, animal and plant health, drought protection.
