Moldovan president discusses with Greek counterpart

Chisinau, 2 April /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a video discussion with President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou, to re-launch the political contacts at the level of the heads of state and give a new impetus to the bilateral relations, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials tackled the need to sign the agreements on social protection and conversion of driver’s licences for the Moldovans settled in Greece. The concerned subjects will be submitted to the transport ministries from the two countries for management.
„The re-launch of the bilateral dialogue with Greece is an important step in strengthening our presence in the European area and an extra way to defend the interests of our countrymen who live in Greece. I showed interest in attracting more Greek investments in Moldova’s economy and strengthen the bilateral contacts in the tourism sector,’’ the Moldovan head of state.
For her part, President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou expressed support for the agenda of reforms promoted by President Maia Sandu and openness to provide assistance to the anti-corruption efforts in Moldova.
President Maia Sandu congratulated Katerina Sakellaropoulou and the Greek nation on the holiday marked on 25 March – the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the War of Independence of Greece – the event which laid the foundations of the modern Greece.
In the end of the discussion, President Maia Sandu invited President Katerina Sakellaropoulou to visit Moldova, when the pandemic situation in the two countries improves.
