Moldovan acting PM, business environment discuss activity on emergency state period

Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/ - Over 100 economic agents from Moldova, which represent the domestic trade at malls, commercial centres, markets, as well as managers of markets today participated in a dialogue with acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi. The event was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) in its capacity of promoter of the private sector’s interests and co-chaired by the CCI head Sergiu Harea, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Thus, today, when the economic agents from the domestic commerce sector are in the phase of complying with the rules imposed by the emergency state, CCI gave possibility to all sides interested to find solutions and ensure the organization of the work of the markets and commercial centres from Moldova.    

„I wanted us to have this discussion, in order to learn the opinion of the business environment and express openness for your suggestions. We want to see how we can manage this pandemic together, so that you do not record significant damages and we, the authorities, diminish the number of infections,’’ the acting PM said. He noted that, at present, the most worrying situation was registered in Chisinau.

The participants in the meeting exchanged opinions on the organization of the work of the markets and commercial centres, in order to observe the sanitary and epidemiological norms. In the context, the prime minister asked the economic agents to pay increased attention to the organization of the thermometry process, wearing masks and keeping record of the maximal number of consumers in the commercial spaces.

At the discussions, the managers of markets and commercial centres made a proposal to extend the activity schedule. At the same time, representatives of the local public authorities (APL) demanded that the restriction measures enforced in the small markets should not be the same with the ones enforced in the big markets and the way of their work be at the discretion of APL.     

The prime minister specified that the authorities were also intending to have this approach: for the restriction measures to be enforced in different ways in the case of markets or commercial centres and depending on the degree of alert in each region.  

In the end, Aureliu Ciocoi urged the economic agents to ensure the observance of the epidemiological measures at the headquarters of the administrative spaces, in order to contribute to diminishing the infection rate in Moldova. If the epidemiological situation improves, the acting government will ask the parliament to lift the emergency state.   

About 140 representatives of the private sector and local public authorities took part in the event. Their recommendations will be collected by the State Chancellery and considered by the members of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE).   

CCI is a non-governmental association set up in order to back the business environment from Moldova. The Chamber has more than 1,100 members with activities in the trade, industry, agriculture, transport, constructions, IT, services’ providing, etc.

To support the members, CCI undertakes actions to promote the members and producers and their services, organizes economic missions, business forums, exhibitions, entrepreneurial contests and other events in Moldova and abroad. CCI also defends the interests of the business people before the public authorities and provides consultancy services.
