37 residents of apartment building in Chisinsau evacuated by firemen following damage to gas pipeline

Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/- Yesterday evening, employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations / IGSU / urgently evacuated 37 people, including seven minors from a 5-level apartment block in Melestiu Street of the capital, after an underground supply pipe with natural gas was damaged and there was a gas leak that could cause an explosion.
According to IGSU data, the damage to the pipeline occurred around 20:00, after near the block, at a distance of 10 meters, several workers performed underground drilling works and reached the gas supply pipeline, there was an imminent danger of explosion.
Three rescue teams and firemen were deployed on the spot to ensure fire safety and evacuation. IGSU employees managed to evacuate people from the building as a matter of urgency so that they could be safe.
Representatives of the gas services also intervened at the scene of the incident, which remedied the fault to prevent a risk situation. The circumstances of the case are to be determined.
