Second stage of project on electronic taxation launched in Chisinau

Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/- Second stage of the pilot project for electronic ticketing in public transport was launched today in Chisinau, which allows citizens to pay cashless for trip.

Attending the event Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said that the initiation of the project is first step for the development of public transport in the capital by providing quality services to citizens, and with the support of partners and technologies, this initiative can be implemented later in the municipal public transport utilities.

For his part, Sergiu Stoianov, VISA development manager for Moldova said that the use of smart technologies in transport is a global trend, and this is to be fully used in public transport in Chisinau to provide comfort to passengers. 

During the second stage, 57 public transport units on trolleybus routes No10, 22 and 30 and bus routes No2 and 5 will be equipped with mobile validators for accepting cashless payments.

Thus, the mobile terminals of trolleybus and bus taxpayers accept payments with a contactless payment card of any bank in the world, of different payment systems, with a smartphone or other device equipped with contactless technology.

Tap to Phone technology is tested too, which allows the taxpayer in the public transport unit to use the smartphone as a terminal, offering travelers the opportunity to quickly and securely pay for travel with card, phone, smartwatch, bracelet fitness or other device.

The first stage of the pilot program was launched on 16 March in partnership with MasterCard, which the municipality signed a memorandum of cooperation.
