Dutch IT company interested in developing business in Moldova

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/ - Opportunities of investments in the information technologies (IT) sector from Moldova today were discussed by the leadership of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) and representatives of the Dutch company Payingit.NL, specialized in the services of IT, BPO (Business process outsourcing), providing of software services and solutions.
At the discussions, a state secretary at MEI, Mihail Lupascu, presented the attractive and competitive facilities, opportunities provided by the information technologies and communications sector (ITC), as well as the potential of the human resources from Moldova. He noted that the Moldovan government had offered a preferential legislative framework for the IT industry and came with policies dedicated to this industry.
At the same time, the official said that the main initiative dedicated to developing the IT industry was the law on parks for information technology, stressing that the first IT park had started working in Moldova as of 2018 and so far, the number of the residents has exceeded the figure of 700 companies, of which 172 became resident in 2020. Despite the constraints imposed by the pandemic, the turnover made by the residents of the Moldova IT Park in 2020 exceeded the income forecast by 25 per cent and amounted to over five billion lei and about 80 per cent represented export of services.
„Moldova provides a string of facilities from which potential investors can benefit and due to our efforts on various dimensions, the ITC sector stays one of the most developed and dynamic sectors of the national economy. We encourage the entrepreneurs and potential investors to develop and promote digital solutions in our country. Moreover, Moldova IT Park provides special fiscal regime for the companies registered in the park, which includes the single 7-per cent tax, which incorporates all taxes paid by an IT company. At the same time, this regime implies the simplification of the fiscal administration, reducing the fiscal burden and the virtual presence of the residents,’’ Mihail Lupascu said.
For his part, the commercial director of the Dutch company, Cees Maat, appreciated Moldova’s progress in the field of communications and information technologies, degree of development and positive effects of the policies enforced in Moldova, as well as the Economics Ministry’s openness for the requirements of the business partners, including the attention paid to investors. Also, Cees Maat informed about the registration of business in Moldova and the intention construct a hub of services for the entire region in the country.
According to the Embassy of Moldova in the Netherlands, in 2019, the overall trade exchanges between Moldova and the Netherlands stood at 95.01 million dollars, of which the sum of Moldova’s exports amounted to 37.89 million dollars and the imports from the Netherlands were worth 57.12 million dollars. Over 20 bilateral treaties were signed between Moldova and the Netherlands in diverse fields.
