Guide on green manures in drought conditions published

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/- A pocket guide on Green fertilizers in drought conditions of Moldova was recently published with the support of the American Farmer-to-Farmer Program. It is intended for small and medium-sized farmers who grow cereals, vegetables and beans or garden and greenhouse crops, but much of the information is relevant to all farmers.

The publication includes data on characteristics of crops suitable as green fertilizers, the link between drought and this type of fertilization, the factors that affect the assimilation of nitrogen by vegetables, green fertilizers function, their choice and their inclusion in crop rotation.

The content of the guide and several infographics included in the publication habe been set on a voluntary basis by expert Hans Kandel from the University of North Dakota, USA, under Farmer-to-Farmer Program, implemented by CNFA (Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture ) Moldova with the financial support of the US Agency for International Development.
