National Employment Agency to have more powers during state of emergency

Chisinau, 9 April /MOLDPRES/- By derogation from the Law on promotion of employment and unemployment insurance, during the state of emergency, the National Employment Agency may take several decisions, according to Instruction No2 of 8 April of the Commission for Emergencies.
Under the document, the territorial subdivisions for employment will take decisions on: scheduling monthly visits to the territorial subdivision where the person is registered as unemployed, in order to receive support for employment; participation of the unemployed in interviews with employers in connection with employment prospects, organized by the territorial subdivision for employment or on its own initiative; participation in active employment measures.
Territorial subdivisions for employment are also allowed to register persons who do not meet the conditions to receive unemployment status, according to the legislation, but who lost their job during the state of emergency, in connection with the pandemic situation and the establishment for these persons, from the day of submitting the application, the unemployment benefit in the amount of 1054 lei per month, if they meet several conditions.
Unemployment benefit for the persons is granted within the available financial means, and in case the respective expenses will exceed the limit of the available financial means, they will be proposed and approved when the State Budget Law for 2021 is rectified.
Unemployment benefits are paid by the National Social Insurance House, based on the list of unemployed people for whom the National Agency for Employment has established the right to unemployment benefits during the state of emergency.
On 1April -30 May state of emergency is declared in Moldova. At yesterday's meeting, the Commission for Emergencies approved several actions to support the population and the business environment during this period.
