Moldova's National Health Insurances Company finances over 130 transplant operations in 2020

Chisinau, 9 April /MOLDPRES/ - The medical and sanitary institutions contracted by the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM) in 2020 carried out 131 transplant operations, which is by 35 more against the year before.
According to data by CNAM, in the last year, the number of hepatic and renal transplants decreased and the cornea transplants’ number increased. Two of all transplants were liver transplants, three were kidney transplants and 126 - cornea transplants. Over 5 million 137,000 lei were allocated from the mandatory health insurances accounts for these interventions.
The transplant operations are made at two medical and sanitary public institutions contracted by CNAM – the Timofei Mosneaga Republican Clinical Hospital and the Holy Trinity Municipal Clinical Hospital.
In 2021, over 7 million 305,000 lei was provided for the carrying out of the transplant operations. The cost of one liver transplant operation is of 789, 605 lei, the kidney transplant – 180,360 lei, cornea transplant – 21,889 lei and the transplant of the amniotic membrane on the surface of the eye – 17,630 lei.
