Number of children infected with Covid-19 increased in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 April /MOLDPRES/- In the Republic of Moldova, the number of children infected with the new type of coronavirus has increased, after the identification of the British strain on the territory of the country, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"It is an alarming situation for children to be affected by the Sars-Cov-2 virus. Currently, there are 12,528 infected children, which previously did not happen until the British strain was imported into the Republic of Moldova. Of them, 53% are between 11 and 17 years old. Large number of pregnant women who suffer from Covid, today 973 people are registered ", acting prime minister Aureliu Ciocoi said yesterday evening.

The report presented by the Ministry of Health shows that 910 new cases of infection were registered on Friday, out of which 223 in Chisinau municipality, out of a total of 5,799 tests performed. Thus, currently, the number of Covid patients reaches 19,130 ​​people, of which 3,770 are hospitalized, 316 are in serious condition, and 32 dead. Currently, the Republic of Moldova ranks 18th in Europe, in terms of new infections and 16th - in terms of mortality.

So far, 61,091 people have been vaccinated in the Republic of Moldova. The number does not include citizens who have been vaccinated abroad. At the same time, the Ministry of Health is in the process of direct negotiations with a Chinese company that produces the SINOVAC vaccine, for contracting a batch of 400,000 doses. 

Ciocoi appreciated the beneficial experience of opening the 15 information centers regarding Covid-19, in 15 localities, by IGSU specialists and MAI subdivisions, being distributed free of charge 844 protective masks and 1600 leaflets to the people who documented themselves here. In this context, the members of the Single Command Center agreed to quickly consider the possibility of seconding a medical worker to these centers in order to start the rapid population testing process. "We will see if there are enough stocks within MSMPS to ensure this process. I hope to find, and if we do not proceed quickly to purchase a new batch of rapid tests to ensure this network throughout the country," he said.

ANSP carried out 64 control missions, 19 cases of non-compliance with sanitary norms, issuing 10 reports. In this context, he said that decision No1 of the CSE provides the right given to control bodies to withdraw the activity license of public catering units, economic agents that do not comply with epidemiological rigors.

In the last 24 hours, about 11,000 police officers and 80 soldiers from the National Army were involved in patrolling and maintaining law and order in the country, and the Border Police found 4 false certificates of Covid among the 5516 people who entered the country.

8056 people in self-isolation were checked, 903 - economic agents 300 - transport units, 346 - commercial units. 385 contravention lawsuits were filed, 178 individuals were sanctioned and an economic agent.

On weekends, MAI specialists and servicemen will continue controls and patrolling public places in the Republic of Moldova to prevent or identify cases of violation of the health regime.
