Moldova's Post state enterprise puts into circulation stamp dedicated to firs cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - The state enterprise, Moldova’s Post, in partnership with the Moldovan Philatelists’ Union, today put into circulation a special post stamp titled, Yuri Gagarin – 60 years since the first flight in outer space. The event was held at the Philatelic Exhibition, MOLDFILEX 2021.
The special post stamp, Yuri Gagarin – 60 years since the first flight in outer space, was put in postal circulation in accordance with the programme of issuances of special obliterations for the 2021 year and is dedicated to marking the World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day.
On this occasion, the state enterprise, Moldova’s Post, issued an illustrated postcard titled, Yuri Gagarin. The First Russian cosmonaut. The first man to make a flight in outer space, and manufactured a personalized post stamp, Yuri Gagarin – 60 years since the first flight in the outer space.
„The subject has been in the focus of the enterprise for more years. Thus, on 12 April 2001, Moldova’s Post issued a dedicated post stamp titled, the First cosmonaut of the Earth – Yuri Gagarin, and on 9 April 2011, it put into circulation a strip titled, Fifty years since the first space flights with human crew, said the acting director general of the state enterprise, Moldova’s Post, Vitalie Zaharia.
The head of the post authorities from Moldova voiced confidence that, through the philatelic pieces launched, philatelists from Moldova would convey messages both about this event and about Moldova to more countries.
On 12 April 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first man to reach the outer space, when the Vostok ship made a full rotation around the world, which lasted 48 minutes. In the honour of this event, the day of 12 April was nominated World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day.
