Moldovan health ministry revises protocols for family physicians as to infection with COVID-19

Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/ - All cases suspect for the infection with the SARS CoV-2 virus will be tested, in order to confirm the diagnose of COVID-19 and till the result is got, they will managed as potential infected with COVID-19 and medical assistance will be provided. The actions are provided for in the new national clinical protocol and the standardized clinical protocol for the family physicians as to the infection with the new-type coronavirus.
According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), the patients with symptomatic forms of Covid-19 who are treated at home, in whom risk factors are associated, which might lead to the worsening of the health condition, are recommended to be monitored SaO2 with pulse oximeter at home. Yet, they are not recommended to be indicated the therapy with antibiotics or their administration on prophylactic purpose. At the same time, no corticosteroids are indicated for the patients with light forms of Covid-19 or with non-severe pneumonia, who are treated at home. These and other provisions are contained in the fifth issue of the national clinical protocol, Infection with the new-type coronavirus (COVID-19), updated based on the most recent information available in the world as to the treatment of the Covid-19 patients, in order to improve the management of the COVID-19 cases.
Under the updated protocol, the COVID-19 patients will be actively investigated to detect concomitant infectious diseases and within the healthcare route, the co-infections will be taken into consideration (flu, other acute respiratory diseases, TB), as well as/or chronic diseases. The treatment with Remdesivir, including with anti-coagulating agents, will be administered earlier (at the 1-6 day of the disease) to the patients having indications.
Also, increased attention will be paid to the strategies of psycho-social support, in order to quickly evaluate the anxiety and depressive symptoms of patients, in the context of the COVID-19. Also, before discharging, the COVID-19 patients will be examined for the rehabilitation needs, in order to facilitate the subsequent reference.
The pregnant and lately confined women with COVID-19 will have access to qualified care focused on woman, obstetric assistance, fetal and neo-natal assistance, as well as mental health and psycho-social support, with the availability of assistance in case of maternal and neo-natal complications.
