Chisinau, 14 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldova Fruct association has warned the native producers not to use phyto-sanitary products banned in the European Union’s Registers.

According to the association, the observance of the maximally admissible norms of residua in fruits is on the first place when it comes to the export to the European Union market. EU in the last years excluded a string of preparations from the state registers, while in Moldova their use is allowed till the stocks are exhausted. Moldova Fruct warns producers not to use phyto-sanitary products which were excluded from the EU Registers and pay increased attention to the residua of active substances in fruits.

„When we speak about the export of fruits, we permanently stress the European Union’s requirements; yet, we should speak about an inoffensive production for any market, including the domestic one. I do not think that much time is left till the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), especially Russia, will have more drastic requirements,’’ the head of Moldova Fruct, Vitalie Gorincioi, said.

At the same time, the Moldova Fruct representatives also warn about the narrow spectrum of phyto-sanitary products accessible at present, according to the state register, which would allow meeting the EU’s requirements.

„There are a few products for combating the diseases and pests in apricots and sweet cherries. On the other hand, we have homologated products at other species of horticultural products, but they have not been extended. Moldova Fruct will continue communicating with the state centre on the homologation and testing of phyto-sanitary products, with the supplying producing companies, so that we together identify the needed solutions, in order that the fruits producers from Moldova have access to the products, the use of which will allow observing the maximally admissible norms of active substances and residua,’’ the Moldova Fruct executive director, Iurie Fala, said.

In 2020, Moldova Fruct made an analysis of the products used in EU for various species of fruits. Subsequently, the Association shipped letters to producing companies, with a request to analyze possibility of registering and extending certain products for other crops. There were companies which came with an answer and concrete actions as a result of these approaches and some companies reacted partially.
