Prosthetic appliance, rehabilitation of patients with malignant tumours might take place at state's expense in Moldova

Chisinau, 14 April /MOLDPRES/ - The state might assume the expenses for the individual prosthesis and consumables needed for the surgical and prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with malignant tumours of head, neck and locomotor apparatus and of patients with anophthalmia. The expenditures are to be covered from the budget of the mandatory health insurances, managed by the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM). The parliament’s commission for social protection, health and family approved a draft law to this effect today.
The legislative initiative belongs to an MP of the faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), ACUM, Dan Perciun. He said that CNAM was presently covering only the expenses borne by patients diagnosed with cancer diseases, which disadvantages other categories of patients, which needed to be backed by the state.
Statistics data presented in the informative note to the draft shows that 100 prosthetic appliances are annually made, of which 70 per cent is against payment (2,900 lei per one case).
The draft is to be approved at the parliament’s plenary meeting.
