Chisinau, 15 April /MOLDPRES/ - The United nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) today donated 295 video cameras to the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) for the endowment of classrooms from the general education institutions from Moldova. The web cameras are to be used by teachers in ensuring the process of teaching education contents online.
As many as 292 out of 295 cameras will be distributed to the primary education institutions, gymnasiums and lyceums and three web cameras will be delivered to the Republican Centre of Psycho-Pedagogical Assistance.
„In the spring of 2020, with the sharp switch to the online education, as response to the coronavirus pandemic, MECC set as priority the supply of the education system with technology and devices of information technologies needed. In this process, we enjoyed the support of UNICEF – a reliable partner, which backs the education system from Moldova. Due to these web cameras, we are set to bring the virtual classroom to a standard as close as possible to the real one,’’ competent minister Lilia Pogolsa said.
„In a virtual classroom, there are real children who need real connection with their teacher. The pupils from the online syllabi have better performances when they can see and communicate between them during classes and as for the children with special education requirements and those with sensorial disabilities, such as those with hearing problems, this thing is particularly important, as they read from lips,’’ the UNICEF country representative in Moldova, Maha Damaj, said.
